BigFlicks, the movie portal from Reliance Entertainment has recently launched a promotional offer to download 14,000 movies for $1 movie. This promotional offer will run from March 8th to March 15th 2008. The move is geared towards the NRI audience and the movies genre goes from Adult to Adventure & Mythology to Thriller.

For India based users, BigFlicks is offering a DVD rental service which is currently operational in New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Banaglore, Hyderabad and Chandigarh. All these places also have BigFlicks stores. I think DVD rentals will be a more popular service in India than streaming and downloads because of lacklustre Internet speed although it has to face the rampant piracy issues.

The DVD rental space in India is becoming crowded with SeventyMM and BigFlicks making a multi-city presence and city-specific services like CatchFlix, HomeView and ClixFlix.
