Infosignz has launched a free and hosted version of its digital signage management platform. This is first of is kind offering in a market where the existing solutions are pretty expensive.  Typically, a hosted solution will cost you anywhere in excess of $1000 per month.

The InfoSignz platform makes it easy to create, publish and manage electronic displays.  The web based solution works without any hardware constraints and does not require any kind of download.  The interface is flash based and the drag and drop features make it easy to use.  You can create multiple playlists, add multiple locations and start showing your content by day, time, or location.  InfoSignz platform allows you to publish different kind of content like Video, Images, RSS Feeds, Plain Text, Web pages, Live Video Feed, News Ticker, Web Services and Flash Video.  The data can be pulled from various sources including ODBC/JDBC source, XML Feed, Microsoft Access and Excel Files.

InfoSignz is targeting retailers, out of home (OOH) advertising networks, hotels, franchise and in-store networks, educational institutes, SOHO clients, saloons, conference rooms, kiosks and media agencies which are the biggest users of digital signage solutions.  With its free offering, it has managed to break the entry barrier in the market and is seeing traction in the market.

I feel that digital signage does a good job of communicating messages to the targeted audience and saves cost on printing brochures and catalogs but the advertisers want to look at other aspects also.  If a service can provide robust analytics on how the audience reacted to the displayed messages or how it helped increase sales of a particular product, it will be a great service.  Do you think digital signage helps increase sales in a retail outlet, any experiences?
