Yahoo Joins OpenSocial; To Partner With Google And MySpace




(No Ratings Yet)Yahoo has joined OpenSocial according to the blog post on its website and a post on Official Google Blog. Google, MySpace and Yahoo are partnering to form a Non-profit OpenSocial Foundation which will ensure neutrality and longevity of OpenSocial as an open, free and community driven specification for building social applications.
The non-profit organization will work as an independent entity and all the specifications developed by the OpenSocial Foundation will be available under Creative Commons license. An example implementation of OpenSocial’s specification is being incubated at the Apache Software Foundation under the name of Shindig which will act as a ready reference for developers.
