Microsoft Launches Self Promotional Video Site Built On Silverlight

Microsoft has launched Microsoft Videos; a site for users to view all Microsoft related videos including product demos, how-to videos and keynote speeches.

The site includes all the basic community features like ratings, ability to comment, video sharing through email and embedding it to your blog or website.

The site is built on top of Silverlight foundation and uses a custom Silverlight player.  I am unable to comment on the quality of video as I was unable to watch any video in spite of having Silverlight installed.  The site kept bugging me with “Install Silverlight” message and could not detect already installed program.

Keeping the low rate of Silverlight’s adoption in mind, I think it is more of a self-promotional move from Microsoft to promote Silverlight but it certainly adds some value for people looking for instructions related videos.
