Google To Sell Off Performics

According to a post on Official Google Blog, Google is planning to sell off Performics, the search engine marketing (SEM) company which was a part of Google’s DoubleClick acquisition.

There were lots of discussions going on around Performics and how Google will keep Performics business separate from its organic search. This was creating a question mark on Google’s search results credibility. In order to answer these concerns, Google has divided the Performics business into two separate units which are Affiliate Marketing and Search Marketing. Google will continue to retain Affiliate Marketing business.

As per the post, Google has not yet identified a buyer but it has been receiving requests from several potential ones.

I think this is a smart move from Google which will prevent it from losing credibility on account of owning a search marketing company.
