Craigslist To Tim White: Surrender The Blog URL
Asides Saturday, April 5th, 2008Craigslist, the Internet classifieds ad site which recently launched its own blog, is asking Tim White to surrender the URL for the unofficial Craigslist Blog. Tim White, a fan of Craigslist, started the blog with :craigslistblog.org” as URL last month. At that time the official Craigslist blog did not exist and neither Tim White was employed at Craigslist.
Since the situation has changed now and the Craigslist CEO Jim Buckmaster is blogging at the official blog, Tim has been served a notice to surrender the domain name to Craigslist. The notice also demanded Tim to stop posting deceiving text ads related to Craigslist. Below are the images of ads served on Tim’s blog.
According to Jim Buckmaster, Craigslist does not want to shut down blogs about Craigslist but this blog affects the site’s branding and is confusing for people. Tim has stopped posting ads but does not want to surrender the domain. According to me, Tim is bound to lose the battle of domain name because of the copyright and Trademark rules.
