WowOWow: Another Player in Women Only Social Networking

(No Ratings Yet)More and more women are getting online and so are the sites to cater to the needs of women. Recently, Yahoo entered this space with the launch of Yahoo Shine, a complete social network for women.
Now comes WowOWow, a newly launched site focused only on women. Although the site claims to be a new way for women to talk culture, gossip, politics etc, I really couldn’t find anything new or different from the other offerings in this space. It has all the inevitable components of a social network like blogs, question and answer, conversations i.e. closed group discussions, polls etc.
Though it is not as vast as Shine, WowOWow seems to be differentiating itself from Shine with its serious approach towards issues. While Yahoo Shine is all vibrant and fun place, WowOWow has some serious discussions going around. The other difference between the two is some celebrity users. WowOWow has roped in few celebrities and successful women in the community which includes Marlo Thomas of the TV show “That Girl” and the Oscar award winner Whoopi Goldberg.
I think WowOWow should focus on expanding its content and channels to better cater to women needs which includes some fun element. And hey, they say we have gossip but I couldn’t find much.
