Google Video Gets A Makeover And New Features
Technology Friday, April 18th, 2008Google has made some cosmetic changes in the Google Video service and has added some new features as well. The changes are focused on the ability to find a particular video with various parameters.
Home Page Facelift: The Google Video home page now has tabs for easy access to popular videos like “Hot Videos”, “Most Blogged”, “Most Shared”, “Most Viewed” and “Movers & Shakers.”
Clicking on any of these tabs will take you to the respective page which also offers a timeline to find videos for a particular date. Foe eg: the most blogged video on April 16th was Microsoft’s promotional video for Vista which TechCrunch blogged about along with other blogs.
Search Results: Now you can search for a video and see the results in three different views: List View, Grid View and TV View. The video search results can be filtered on the basis of Duration and can be sorted by Relevance, Popularity, Date and Ratings.
Selecting the TV view lets you watch a particular video along with exploring other search results.
Bigger Video Player: The size of the video player has been increased and the related videos section which used to appear on top of the player has been removed. The details of the video and the related videos section now appear on the right of the player.
