UTV Launches Finance Portal: UTVi
Technology Thursday, May 1st, 2008UTV has launched a website for its business channel UTVi. The UTVi website is a finance portal providing news and information about stocks, markets, businesses etc.
The UTVi website has all the regular finance portal features like the Messageboard, Expert Columns and UTVi School for learning to invest. With all the common features, the site does not really offer anything new to differentiate itself from its competitors like MoneyControl and NDTV Profit.
As Nikhil Pahwa from ContentSutra rightly points out, there seems to be an unwritten standard for designing finance portals and UTVi, in spite of being the latest entrant, is following that almost blindly. Below are the headers of all the three websites which I have mentioned here viz. UTVi, MoneyControl and NDTV Profit. Just see the kind of similarity they bear. UTVi and MoneyControl also have a similar footer as well.
I think it’s time for finance portals to bring in something new and fresh in terms of design, functionality and interactivity. Surprisingly, none of these sites have been able to use the social side of Internet effectively.
