Yahoo Search Launches Glue Pages In India; Sort Of Universal Search

Yahoo India is testing a new search feature called “Glue Pages” which shows results from various sources alongside the classic search results.  Glue Pages look more like a universal search and shows content related to search terms from various sources like news sites, Wikipedia, Flickr, YouTube and Yahoo Answers etc.

Here are the results for “movie reviews” as a search term

The Glue page feature is limited to only few search terms as of now and does not show up for all searches.  The official announcement from Yahoo is expected to come today says ContentSutra

Yahoo seems to be planning about using this feature as an opportunity for both Display as well as Text advertising.  There is a link at the bottom of these pages which asks the publishers to get in touch with Yahoo for publishing their website on Glue Pages.  I think it can become a huge advertising opportunity for Yahoo as they can throw up both text links as well as showcase content from the site alongside other results on Glue pages.
