It will also be important to get certification so that your clients can see that you are a skilled process improvement consultant. There are any qualifications which are useful; you could study the Manager of Quality or the Organizational Excellence Certification. You can then do further training including Lean Businesses and Six Sigma.

Growing your Business

When you are trying to grow your business you will need to think outside of the box, try to brainstorm and come up with lots of different ideas which will help you to become a process improvement consultant. You might need to completely change the way that businesses do certain processes, or you might need to change small things about it. If you can offer ongoing consultancy for clients then you will find that this offers a nice steady stream of ongoing business. You could offer seminars every year for certain clients and you might also want to individually train leaders.

You will find it easier to establish a business if you can identify a niche market. A niche market is a small area of a much larger market which isn’t being serviced properly by other businesses. This means that you will be able to carve out your own area of the market and stand a much better chance of surviving.

If you do your homework and follow all of this advice then there’s no reason why you won’t be able to start a very successful and long lasting career as a process improvement consultant.
