When you have a basic understanding of martial arts you should then try to extend this knowledge so that you can teach people how to protect themselves.  The techniques that you should teach include disabling techniques, how to arm yourself with normal items, and breaking techniques.

You will require various pieces of equipment, and it’s possible to purchase the majority of these from martial arts supply stores.  You should also get martial arts uniforms for your students to wear while they are practicing.  Purchasing training tools such as rubber clubs, rubber guns and rubber knives will make training much more realistic.

Hosting Self Defense Classes

When looking for somewhere to host your self defense classes you have quite a few different options.  You might like to hold it inside a large garage, or alternatively you might want to book a gymnasium or a ground.  Many schools will also have gymnasiums which can be hired for this purpose if needed.

To make your business a success you will generally need to hold your classes at weekends and in evenings.  Sometimes a lunchtime class might work for people who get a long enough lunch break to participate. You could also team up with a local fitness center to offer your services to their members.
