Mippin, a mobile content portal, has launched a new service for publishers called Mippin Maker using which you can create a mobile version of your web site or blog for free and earn money with it.

The content which is converted for mobile rendering then becomes searchable and accessible from mobile phones through Mippin.com. The mobile version of your site, a Mippsite, also gets a new address on Mippin which can be directly accessed by your readers on their mobile browsers. Currently, Mippin supports most of the color phones with WAP 2.0 support and minimum 176 pixels wide screen. Here is a preview of how B.E.T.A. Daily’s Mippsite looks on a mobile browser.

Your Mippsite can also be monetized by authorizing Mippin to serve ads on your mobile page. Mippin is using AdMob, a mobile advertising network, to serve ads on Mippsites.

I found the overall process of creating a Mippsite very easy and it did not take me more than 10 minutes to register and mobilize my web site.

You can access the Mippsite for B.E.T.A. Daily from your mobile browser at http://mippin.com/betadaily

Please let us know of your experience if you happen to browse through this blog from your mobile phone.

Following political news and views around the blogosphere is a time consuming affair. The Hill newspaper has seen this opportunity, at the right time, and has launched the The Hill’s Blog Briefing Room.

The Briefing Room is basically an aggregation of all major political blogs which provides summaries and links to political news and debates from the blogosphere.

The Briefing Room is an interesting addition to The Hill’s existing Congress Blog and Pundits Blog. The Briefing Room sets the agenda for the day and keeps the users informed through updates about posts throughout the day.

So whether you are interested in news about the Republicans or the Democrats, legislation or lobbying, just head on to The Hill’s Blog Briefing Room.

In a news reported by The Hindu, Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has said that it was a mistake to ignore the Internet. The Prime Minister said,

In the last election, we certainly lost the Internet war, the cyber war. It was a very, very serious mistake on our part. It was painful … but it came at the right time, not too late.

The party, which experienced the biggest setback in the 51 years rule, lost its traditional majority though it was able to retain the power. The party spent heavily on government controlled media like newspaper and television during the election campaign but failed to woo the younger crowd. On the other hand, the opposition, which was denied fair access to the government controlled traditional media, used Internet to spread its messages on the subjects like corruption, inflation etc.

Now, the ruling party is reaching out to bloggers and have pledged not to curb bloggers from writing about government related issues. The new Information Minister Ahmad Shabery said,

If there is something newsworthy, I don’t see anything wrong in them posting it. Everyone has the freedom to use the blogs as an information distribution center.

It’s surely a great sign for Internet and high time that the government agencies across the world understand the power of blogging Internet. Instead of restricting bloggers from writing about issues, the governments should try to take constructive feedback coming from these blogs and try to improve the system. The bloggers also need to understand the democratic and viral power of blogging and thus act responsibly while posting anything on the Internet.
